Talking point: The group is asking the top 250 TSX-listed firms and over 100 of the largest private businesses to attend a virtual conference on July 20 and detail what they’re doing to combat anti-Black systemic racism. Hall, the executive chairman of Kingsdale Advisors, played a key role in some of Canada’s largest proxy battles and takeovers. He’s hoping Bay Street can emulate the process used to increase gender diversity by establishing policies and setting specific targets. “Doing nothing now is akin to telling George Floyd to get up when he was powerless. Inaction is what has happened every other time the Black community has cried out,” said Hall.
