Talking point: Kakkar will oversee Wealthsimple’s operations as it continues to expand its types of products and services. The company’s headcount has roughly doubled since April 2021, when it raised $750 million in Series C funding. It now has products in tax, wealth management, stock and crypto trading, venture capital investing, spending accounts and retirement-savings plans. It is also developing a new suite of retail-lending products. Kakkar’s duties include developing growth strategies and evaluating the company’s operational structures and performance, according to a Wealthsimple statement.
