Talking point: VueReal has developed equipment, materials and software for manufacturing microLEDs and other tiny components. The technology can be used to make displays, sensors and other parts that go into cars and consumer electronics. Former University of Waterloo professor Reza Chaji founded the firm in January 2016, and it’s since built up a sizable patent portfolio. Auto-parts makers and device manufacturers are testing the startup’s technology with a view to using or licensing it, said CFO Rick Coccimiglio. VueReal previously raised a US$14.4-million Series B round in April 2022. Coccimiglio said the firm plans to double its 65-person workforce within the next 18 months.
