Police arrested Darius Perry, 27, of Châteauguay, and Nackael Hickey, 26, of Montreal on Tuesday in connection with the abduction and killing of 25-year-old Kevin Mirshahi, whose remains were found in a Montreal park in late October. The pair has been charged with forcible confinement and accessory to murder after the fact. (The Logic)
Talking point: Mirshahi had been under investigation by regulators since 2021 for his ties to the investment group Crypto Paradise Island, which was linked to an alleged pump-and-dump scheme in 2021 involving a token called MRS. Mirshahi and three others, who were found alive the next day, were abducted from a condo building in Old Montreal on June 21. Joanie Lepage, 32, of Les Cèdres, Que., was also charged in connection with the incident on Aug. 22. In another recent crypto-related kidnapping, suspects forced WonderFi CEO Dean Skurka into a vehicle in downtown Toronto on Nov. 6, CBC News reported, releasing him after he paid a $1-million ransom.
