The broadcasting and media firm, founded by Michael MacMillan, the former CEO of Alliance Atlantis, will sell its shares to another Toronto media company, Boat Rocker Media, at a ratio of 1.25 Boat Rocker shares per Blue Ant share. Talking point: Blue Ant shareholders are expected to own 73.5 per cent of the new company, while Boat Rocker shareholders will own the remaining 26.5 per cent. Blue Ant, which owns and operates TV channels and streaming platforms including NatureTime and Love Pets, will acquire Boat Rocker’s scripted, unscripted and family-oriented production studios, as well as a rights and branding division. At $2.25 per Blue Ant share, the transaction represents a 125 per cent premium to Boat Rocker’s closing share price on March 21. Privately held Blue Ant generated $196 million in revenue during the latest fiscal year ended Aug. 31, 2024, according to the company.
