Talking point: Pollin calls it “one of the largest investments to date in a Canadian fertility company,” a segment that has been of growing interest to venture capital firms. Investors increasingly see an opportunity for returns from fertility, a space with high demand and lacklustre offerings for patients. Pollin claims its lab technology will up its patients’ chances of conceiving, and that its digital offerings will give customers more control over their fertility procedures. In June, Vancouver-based Rhino Ventures led an $8-million Series A in Twig Fertility, which also emphasizes tech at its Toronto clinic, located just a 15-minute walk from Pollin. In 2021, Canadian femtech, which includes fertility services, raised a record $21.5 million in investment, according to PitchBook.
