Talking point: The Olympic foundation says the fund directly supports Canadian athletes who are highly ranked, have had recent success internationally and “are poised for the podium.” In these Winter Games, the fund paid out $670,000 to 57 athletes and three teams. McKean is the co-founder and chair of Thistledown, a family office she and Lütke formed in 2019 with a $150-million endowment.
