Talking point: TikTok has worked with Walmart in the U.S. to sell clothes during a variety show on the app, and with Shopify to allow merchants to launch shoppable video ads. It’s unclear when or if the company will formally launch the latest pilot, according to Bloomberg, but the move comes as other social media firms like Facebook and Pinterest increasingly compete in e-commerce. Meanwhile, two Canadian companies—Montreal’s Landr and Vancouver’s Snack—are part of a group of 18 third-party apps that can integrate directly with TikTok after the company added two new tools for software developers. Another pilot program by the company is testing a tool for employee recruitment.
