On Friday, he claimed the U.K. will leave the EU by October whether or not they reach a deal. Other Brexit hardliners top the list of betting favourites to replace May, including former Brexit secretary Dominic Raab and current environment secretary Michael Gove, who shot down the idea of holding a second Brexit referendum earlier this week. The Brexit hardliners appear set to be boosted by the results of the EU elections. The U.K. voted on Thursday, but results aren’t expected to be announced until Sunday. Exit polls from that vote indicate the Brexit Party, founded in January to campaign for the U.K. to leave the EU, is on track to take first place, whereas the Conservatives are on track for their lowest ever share of the vote.
