Talking point: The Atherton, Calif.-based firm currently has 1,700 companies and 5,000 women board candidates. Though it had decided to expand its offerings a while back, “There’s no doubt that the acceleration of racial equity as a cultural issue and a business issue definitely led us to say this is the right time,” said founder Sukhinder Singh Cassidy. This new initiative is the latest in a series of efforts to improve corporate diversity. In July, the CEOs of more than 200 Canadian firms signed on to the BlackNorth Initiative, pledging to have at least 3.5 per cent of executive and board roles filled by Black leaders by 2025. TheBoardlist itself launched in Canada in 2017.
