Talking point: GeekWire reported Wednesday that Techstars was shutting down accelerators in Seattle and Boulder, Colo. and relocating its headquarters from the latter city to New York City. The organization plans to focus on operations in San Francisco, New York, Boston and Los Angeles, according to a memo. Sharma told The Logic it’s also ending programming in Austin, Texas and Chicago. He said he was already planning to step down after seven years at the organization and doesn’t know whether Techstars planned to end Toronto operations permanently. Since launching in 2017, Techstars Toronto has made about 250 direct investments in Canadian startups. The parent organization claims to be the most active pre-seed investor in the world, having backed more than 4,000 startups.
