In April, the Ottawa-based commerce company told workers they would be able to choose how much of their pay they wanted to receive in salary and in stock. It is now pushing back the switch from July to September, sources told The Globe and Mail. Shopify’s new compensation plan is “designed to give employees more flexibility and choice,” said spokesperson Alex Lyons in a statement to The Logic, calling it a “massive undertaking that needs to be designed with consideration and rigour to meet various legal and regulatory requirements.” The program will be rolled out “as planned” in the fall, he said.(The Globe and Mail, The Logic)
