Talking point: The bill comes amid pushback in Quebec and beyond against the growing ubiquity and size of point-of-sale tip requests, with some restaurant customers complaining of 30 per cent options when paying for meals. Merchants will also be required to note whether products are taxable on the price tag under the bill. Quebec’s consumer protection bill also seeks to limit the responsibility of credit card fraud victims to $50.
