Starting today, the adult platform requires proof of consent from all co-performers appearing in content posted to the site, which can include signed release forms. “This update will help safeguard your content and foster a safer platform for all community members who upload content and engage with it,” reads an email to members of its models program that The Logic obtained. Talking point: Pornhub banned uploads and removed content from unverified users in December 2020, after a column in The New York Times claimed the site was “infested with rape videos.” The site is owned by Aylo, the Montreal-founded, Luxembourg-based company formerly known as MindGeek. As The Logic reported last November, the company was the subject of a U.S. federal criminal investigation regarding its relationship with a sex-trafficking website. It remains unclear whether existing content on the site featuring non-verified co-performers will be removed. Sarah Bain, vice-president of public engagement at Ethical Capital Partners, the private equity firm that owns Aylo, wasn’t immediately able to respond to a request for comment.
