Talking Point: The analysis reviewed 10 popular period tracking apps, 10 pregnancy tracking apps and five health-and-fitness wearable devices that track fertility, including Flo, Fitbit and Apple Watch. Unsecure apps and devices that Mozilla tagged with a “Privacy not included” label pose privacy and security issues for users in a post Roe v. Wade world, the foundation wrote in a blog post. “Overnight, apps and devices that millions of people trust have the potential to be used to prosecute people seeking abortions,” said Ashley Boyd, Mozilla’s vice-president of advocacy. “Users should think twice.” The report’s findings come after Meta gave law enforcement officials access to a 17-year-old girl’s private chats about her abortion, which led to several charges against her and her mother.
