Talking point: Quebec, which has given nearly a half-billion dollars in aid to Ford and GM alone, said it couldn’t be as forthcoming with Honda—particularly in light of the province’s recent $11-billion deficit budget. Honda reportedly expects its new EV facilities in Canada—which will include plants to assemble both EVs and their components—to be a $14-billion project. Beyond any provincial incentives, it’s expected to benefit from a 10 per cent EV supply-chain tax credit the federal government unveiled in last week’s budget.
