Talking point: Opalia makes milk by using cells from a cow’s mammary gland, growing them and then starting lactation. It harvests the milk and can use that to make cheese, butter, ice cream and other dairy products. It is awaiting patent approval for its technology and is working on regulatory filings so it can begin commercial sales. Opalia said the money will be used to develop a larger production system so it can start to commercialize its product and will engage with other strategic investors in the meantime, citing strong demand. The company raised $2 million in March 2024.
