Talking point: President Donald Trump is not the only politician under pressure. In May, Moody’s Ratings downgraded Mexico’s credit score to one step above “junk.” After submitting her 2027 budget Tuesday, Sheinbaum said she expects “greater stability” in trade to drive growth. The main issues at stake in talks with the U.S. are Chinese investment in Mexico, as well as Section 232 tariffs on steel, aluminum and autos. Ask whether this ups the urgency for Ottawa, Canada-U.S. Trade Minister Dominic LeBlanc said Friday that Mexico and the U.S. have been talking for months. “Speeding towards a deal two months from now doesn’t feel like speed.”
