The company said it will test more features and roll out additional updates in the coming weeks. The changes come shortly after the Facebook parent provided police with a 17-year-old girl’s private chats about her abortion, resulting in several charges against her and her mother. The case illustrates how tech companies may be compelled to provide U.S. law enforcement with private data relating to abortion cases after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade. A Meta spokesperson told CNBC the new storage feature is not related to the case, and has been in development for some time.
