Talking point: The supply-chain software company said in a statement that the acquisition offers a “springboard into the enterprise retail industry” for its RapidResponse platform, a supply-chain management solution for enterprises. Rubikloud was founded in 2013 to help large retailers use AI to enhance their business operations. CEO and co-founder Kerry Liu told The Globe and Mail the company was trying to decide whether to raise funds or find a partner, and chose the latter in an effort to be “part of the scale-up of a multibillion-dollar Canadian company.” Kinaxis CEO John Sicard told the Ottawa Business Journal the acquisition, which will close within two months, gives the company an entry into Toronto’s tech ecosystem. He described the deal as a “strategic union” of two Canadian success stories. “It’s great to see things stay in a Canadian family, so to speak.”
