Industry Minister Mélanie Joly is bound for Stockholm to boost trade ties in meetings with government officials and industry leaders. Then she’s going to Helsinki, where Foreign Minister Anita Anand is joining a summit of the Nordic Five—Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Iceland—to talk about economic relations and security co-operation in the North. Talking point: In Sweden, Joly met with representatives from Saab, her spokesperson Isabella Orozco-Madison said. The defence contractor came second to the U.S.’s Lockheed Martin in a bid to supply Canada’s next generation of fighter jets, a decision the Liberal government is reconsidering. Saab supplies Canada with other weapons and military systems, however, and works with Bombardier on surveillance planes.
