Former chief operating officer Tim Shortill has left the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan after six years at the fund, along with ex-chief risk officer Saskia Goedhart, spokesperson Scott White confirmed to The Logic. HOOPP veteran Linda Halley succeeds Goedhart. The organization doesn’t plan to refill the COO position. (The Logic)
Talking point: The pension fund, which manages $123 billion in assets, announced changes to three other senior staff positions on Wednesday. Chief legal officer Mary Abbott will now also oversee public and regulatory affairs, and government relations and compliance. Elena Palumbo will add communications and corporate services responsibilities to her role as chief human resources officer. And Angela Waite, who signed on with the firm as a lawyer 15 years ago, is joining the executive team as chief of staff and corporate secretary. In an emailed statement, White said the changes are meant to enhance “the efficiency and effectiveness” of the fund and its investment operations. HOOPP has been working on a new strategic plan under CEO Annesley Wallace, who in April replaced Jeff Wendling, a 26-year veteran of the organization who spent the previous five years as chief executive.
