Talking point: Developers at large organizations like Pizza Hut and New York’s Metropolitan Transportation Authority use Expo’s software to build and run apps using the popular React framework for user interfaces. Like many devtool startups, it’s integrating AI into its products, recently launching an AI agent that can code based on users’ prompts. Founded in 2015, Expo had previously raised US$25 million, per PitchBook data. In a blog post, Georgian investors Emily Walsh and Aidan Potts said the Toronto-headquartered VC fund first used Expo as a customer, and backed it because it has a large developer base and products that cover all stages of app development. Last month, Georgian led a US$400-million round for Replit, another fast-growing vibe coding startup.
