Talking point: Ark Invest’s Cathie Wood said in a press release that the autonomous freight industry is reaching an “inflection point,” and that she believes Gatik’s business model has demonstrated it is commercially viable. Its Ontario fleet is likely one proof point—it has a deal to deliver to over 300 Loblaw stores, and both Intact and Weston-linked fund Wittington Ventures backed its Series A round. The company, which also operates in several U.S. states, said it plans to pursue deals with large multinationals.
