The shipping giant unveiled its autonomous delivery robot Wednesday in collaboration with DEKA Development & Research which previously created iBot, a personal mobility device. The FedEx bot will be used by retailers like Walmart and Lowe’s and restaurant chains like Pizza Hut to deliver same-day orders to nearby customers while navigating obstacles like unpaved sidewalks, curbs and steps. Testing begins this summer. Amazon launched its own autonomous delivery device Scout, a six-wheeled robot, in January. (Tech Crunch)
