If the new memorandum of understanding leads to final agreements, Dominion will manufacture Tencore’s TerMIT uncrewed vehicles in Canada starting in 2027. It plans to kit out the drones, which look like small tanks, with its AuraNet command-and-control system, putting AuraNet in combat use in Ukraine’s defence against Russia’s invasion. Dominion also hopes to develop a version of the TerMIT drone for use in the Arctic, it said, with the Canadian and allied militaries as potential customers. (The Logic)
Talking point: TerMITs can be fitted with various modules, including light weapons, sensors, communications gear and cargo carriers; the Ukrainian army uses ground drones to deliver supplies to front-line fighters and evacuate casualties without putting human drivers’ lives on the line. Tencore has a production deal with a partner in Germany and preliminary agreements with others in Finland and Denmark. Prime Minister Mark Carney and Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy have signed national-level agreements to promote such partnerships.
