The bureau wants the federal court to ask Well Health for information about some of its recent acquisitions over concerns the Vancouver-based healthtech firm’s consolidations have worsened competition for AI transcription and medical-record software. (The Globe and Mail)
Talking point: The bureau is interested in Well Health’s April acquisition of Healwell AI and a concurrent acquisition by Healwell of Orion Health. Healwell created an AI tech that claims to help doctors detect disease sooner. Orion Health, meanwhile, offers a platform for patients and health-care providers to connect. Well Health said to The Globe and Mail it is “working collaboratively” with the bureau, but is confident the investigation won’t materially impact its business and operations. A hearing is scheduled for Dec. 9.
