By doing so, Montreal-founded, Luxembourg-based Aylo contravened privacy law, Canada’s privacy commissioner wrote in a wide-ranging report released Thursday. Aylo, then known as MindGeek, “did not seek express consent directly from all those whose images appeared in intimate content” in the case of an Ontario woman, who had complained that an ex-boyfriend uploaded a video of her to the site. The privacy commissioner recommends that Aylo “immediately cease the collection, use and disclosure of user-generated intimate images and videos” until the company has complied with Canadian privacy law.
