In the U.S., sales of pre-owned EVs rose 12 per cent in the first quarter year-over-year, which the Financial Times linked to an abundance of EVs leased during the pandemic now returning to market. There was a 28 per cent decline in new EV sales over that same period, however, with the end of the U.S. tax credit. In Canada, where the federal EV rebate relaunched in February, DesRosiers Automotive Consultants said new EV sales were strong in March despite total new vehicle sales, including gas-powered vehicles, falling 8.2 per cent year-over-year.
