Mulroney, whom CIBC poached from Scotiabank as global vice-chair in November, will lead the team of senior executives CEO Harry Culham created last year to integrate client relationships and the bank’s various businesses, The Globe and Mail reported, citing an internal memo. (The Globe and Mail)
Talking point: Mulroney’s November hire was part of a broad leadership shuffle CIBC made in advance of its CEO transition. Culham took over the top job from Victor Dodig, who retired at the end of October after 11 years in the role. Mulroney is an experienced investment banker and the son of former prime minister Brian Mulroney. His name has been floated as a possible replacement for Pierre Poilievre to lead the federal Conservatives. Former cabinet minister Lisa Raitt is another well-connected Conservative in CIBC’s office of the CEO.
