Talking point: The African nation follows El Salvador, which made the move in September. The International Monetary Fund has since urged El Salvador to reverse its decision, citing risks around financial stability. The country has also seen challenges with the rollout of its Chivo crypto wallet. The Canadian crypto company Blockstream has been closely involved with El Salvador’s efforts, and most recently announced plans to help the country issue bonds tied to Bitcoin. Blockstream spokesperson Fernando Nikolic told The Logic the company hasn’t worked with the Central African Republic and doesn’t plan to.
