Talking point: CEO Keith Creel said the train will position Canadian Pacific to become a leader in decarbonizing freight transportation. The company will conduct tests with the new electric-traction motors after the train is built to determine if hydrogen technology is suitable for the freight industry. It’s one of many industries looking to incorporate more clean technology as the federal government looks to “exceed Canada’s existing 2030 climate target” through measures including an increasing carbon tax.
