Truong announced in a LinkedIn post on Friday that he and the company “have decided to mutually separate.” Truong, who was also vice-president and general manager of Canada at Binance, joined the cryptocurrency exchange in December 2021. He declined The Logic’s request for comment. Bryan Tritt, spokesperson for Binance, declined to comment on who will replace Truong. (The Logic)
Talking Point: Truong, a former chief compliance officer of Toronto-based crypto-trading platform Coinsquare and a former regulatory analyst at the Alberta Securities Commission, was hired to support Binance’s move to Calgary after it exited Ontario at the end of 2021. The company announced it would stop doing business in the province after Canadian securities regulators cracked down on unregistered crypto-trading platforms, with the Ontario Securities Commission giving businesses three weeks to comply with its guidelines. Last week, Tritt told The Logic that Binance “is actively engaged” with the Canadian Securities Administrators in pursuing registration.
