Red Hook, a Vancouver-based horror gaming outfit with 29 staff, will continue to function independently from Montreal’s Behaviour. The company didn’t disclose financial terms of the deal. (The Logic)
Talking point: Behaviour, which claims to be Canada’s largest video game studio, is best known for its survival horror gaming franchise Dead by Daylight. Its acquisition of Red Hook “reinforces Behaviour’s leading position in horror gaming,” the company said in a release. The deal comes after Behaviour closed its Seattle-based Midwinter studio last week. It also laid off roughly 95 employees in July, including 70 in Montreal—the firm’s second workforce reduction this year after more than doubling its headcount over five years.
