Talking point: Amazon has required its corporate employees to be in the office at least three days a week for the past 15 months, which Jassy said “has strengthened our conviction about the benefits.” Jassy said being together in the office makes it easier for employees to collaborate, learn and strengthen the company culture. He also announced a plan to reduce the number of middle managers at the company, asking teams to increase the ratio of individual contributors to managers by 15 per cent by the end of the first quarter of 2025. Canadian employers, including those in the federal government and financial services, are also increasingly cracking down and mandating employees to return to the office.
