The Vancouver-based cybersecurity company has agreed to be taken private by Crosspoint Capital Partners, which will purchase Absolute’s common shares for US$11.50 each in cash. The deal’s enterprise value includes debt. (The Logic)

Talking point: The companies expect the acquisition to close in the second half of the year, at which point Absolute’s shares will no longer be listed on the Nasdaq and Toronto Stock Exchange. On the TSX, the company’s shares jumped more than 35 per cent on the news. In early April, Absolute announced a restructuring plan and reduced its headcount by about five per cent or 40 people in an effort to lower expenses. It’s the latest TSX-listed innovation-economy firm to be acquired by a U.S. PE firm, following Thoma Bravo’s deal to buy Waterloo, Ont.-based Magnet Forensics.
