The Salmon Arm, B.C.-based agtech said BDC Capital’s Industrial Innovation Venture Fund and InBC Investment, the B.C. government’s $500-million strategic investment fund, led the round. Talking point: The firm has built a fully autonomous robot for mushroom harvesting, which attaches to a mushroom farm’s shelves to take over what is otherwise difficult physical labour done by humans. CEO Sean O’Connor said in a statement that he envisions a future for the company where its technology can help with harvesting other indoor crops as well. 4AG said it has contracts with two major farms in Europe and Canada, and is in talks with three other international ones that will start by adding between four to six robots to their facilities.
