The San Francisco generative AI company raised US$200 million in Series C venture funding, led by Radical Ventures, Premji Invest and existing investor ICONIQ Growth. Other new investors in the round include Adobe Ventures, B Capital, Citi Ventures, IBM Ventures, Salesforce Ventures and Workday Ventures. (The Logic)
Talking point: Radical Ventures was one of the first investors to back $5-billion Canadian AI startup Cohere. Writer, which counts Uber, Qualcomm and Salesforce as new customers, creates AI systems for the workplace, and has a “full-stack” platform, meaning it develops both the front and back-end of applications. It plans to use the additional capital to develop its AI products. Radical partner Rob Toews will join Writer’s board of directors. “Writer is a rare gem in the generative AI landscape,” Toews said in a statement.
