Talking point: PwC is competing with KPMG, Deloitte and EY for the growing number of companies using cryptocurrencies. EY has 150 crypto-related clients, and is looking to add a tax-calculating service. Deloitte is focused on blockchain uses in finance, while KPMG is competing directly with PwC on crypto-auditing. The increased interest from the Big Four accounting firms follows a number of Canadian firms pulling back from crypto-audits. Calgary-based MNP stopped conducting audits for several publicly traded crypto companies earlier this year, including Hut 8 Mining, Vogogo and DMG Blockchain Solutions. The withdrawal followed increased regulatory scrutiny coupled with the collapse of Canada’s largest cryptocurrency exchange, QuadrigaCX.
