The Vancouver-based retailer now expects full-year net revenue of US$10.38 billion to US$10.48 billion, down from a previous range of US$10.7 billion to US$10.8 billion. The company also missed analyst expectations for revenue for the first time in two years. (The Logic, CNBC)
Talking point: Who knew leggings could wreak so much havoc? Lululemon launched its Breezethrough pants, which feature a seamless front and thong-like stitching in the back, to terrible reviews in July, forcing the company to pull them from stores later that month. Lululemon also pulled leggings in 2013 following customer complaints they were too sheer. In an earnings call late Thursday, CEO Calvin McDonald said the Breezethrough debacle “had a negligible impact on our performance in this quarter” and instead blamed the revenue miss on a lack of new styles. Lululemon will rush new styles to market for 2025, he said. Never has there been so much riding on the question, “Do these pants make my butt look weird?”
