Talking point: The FIFA disciplinary committee has also opened disciplinary proceedings against Canada Soccer, Priestman and the two staff members. Priestman has served as head coach of the Canadian women’s soccer team since 2020, and was on the sidelines when the squad won gold at the (delayed) Tokyo Olympics the following year. “On behalf of our entire team, I first and foremost want to apologize to the players and staff at New Zealand Football and to the players on Team Canada. This does not represent the values that our team stands for,” Priestman said of the drone incident.
