Talking point: The court found that Runner, who holds dual Canadian and French citizenship, sent letters purporting to be from well-known psychics, promising wealth and happiness in exchange for a fee. The scheme, which ran from 1994 to 2014, netted millions of victims. Competition Bureau Canada aided in the case obtaining business records from six Quebec-based companies used in the scheme, and sharing them with U.S. authorities, according to spokesperson Marianne Blondin.
