Talking point: This is the latest strategic move from a large institution to tap into Canadian fintech talent; last year, insurance giant Travelers acquired a majority stake in Toronto-based startup Zensurance—its founders wouldn’t comment on whether it was on the road to full acquisition, but it operated independently at the time. In this case, Accenture acquired some of Zafin’s assets last year, with employees from Zafin’s consulting division joining Accenture in its financial services practice. Accenture is also helping banks implement Zafin’s solutions in their software.
