The Toronto quality-assurance software startup backed by Yoshua Bengio and Y Combinator launched a new platform that helps companies develop and test generative AI models before they are released. AutoAlign controls what information is fed to the model, fine-tunes the model itself and checks its output before feeding it to the user, co-founder and CEO Dan Adamson told The Logic. (The Logic)
Talking point: The platform lets companies decide how their AI model behaves by controlling parameters such as racial bias, privacy protection and gender assumptions. It has been tested by pilot customers, and Adamson said the company is starting a fundraising round and seeking strategic partnerships. “A lot of companies are now stuck in this arms race … Do you go and release some generative AI solution that’s half-baked, or do you fall behind your competitors?” he said. “We’re trying really hard to create this middle way.” Armilla’s product launch comes after Bengio called for a six-month halt in AI development in March, saying that it was potentially “as destructive as nuclear bombs.”
