The Vancouver-based biotech said its net loss for 2025 was roughly US$146 million compared to nearly US$163 million in 2024. Meanwhile, its revenue grew nearly 160 per cent from about US$29 million in 2024 to roughly US$75 million in 2025. (The Logic)
Talking point: Much of the firm’s revenue came in the fourth quarter from a settlement payment after it resolved patent litigation with Bruker Corporation, which saw the Mass.-based firm pay AbCellera US$36 million upfront and future royalty payments. CEO Carl Hansen said in a statement that AbCellera has “transitioned to a clinical-stage biotech” as it moved two of its drugs into clinical trials, including ABCL635. It’s the first drug that the company has discovered for itself, as opposed to with a partner, to move into human trials. AbCellera has been focusing on developing its own pipeline of drugs, seeing it as a more profitable route than relying on royalties from partner-fuelled discoveries.
