Talking point: A number of Indian IT companies have announced hiring sprees in Canada, even while other global tech firms slow their workforce expansions. HCL Technologies, another Indian consulting giant, unveiled last year that it planned to hire 2,000 in Canada as part of a wider North American expansion (it opened a 350-person office in Mississauga last year). Infosys, which already operates in Ottawa, Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver, has worked with Canadian universities to develop programs in a bid to train and prepare would-be employees.
