Talking point: It’s one of several consulting firms that’s been trimming jobs over the past few years, as major government clients try to off-load consulting costs and artificial intelligence automates entry-level work like writing report drafts or creating slide decks. A McKinsey spokesperson suggested to Bloomberg that the firm is trying to make its “support functions”—a phrase often used to describe back-office jobs like human resources and IT—more efficient. Bloomberg’s sources said that the firm does still plan to hire more consultants.
