Talking point: The new model comes as Hydro One works to advance reconciliation with Indigenous people, acknowledging that First Nations have not seen benefits from past infrastructure development in their traditional territories. “We recognize that we did not always get it right,” said Megan Telford, chief human resources officer, in a press release. Under an agreement signed in the spring, nine First Nations will be able to take a stake in the Waasigan Transmission Line project. The model will also provide investment opportunities in five transmission lines being developed in southwestern Ontario.
