The Vancouver-based venture capital and private debt firm’s fifth fund is 66 per cent bigger than its predecessor, though short of its initial US$400-million target. Talking point: Vistara focuses on providing growth-stage technology companies with less-dilutive capital—namely structured debt, convertible debt or preferred equity—rather than traditional equity financing. The firm plans to invest in 15 to 18 companies through its newest fund, and has already written cheques to eight companies, including Vancouver-based government technology provider Clariti Cloud. The firm says it’s had 23 exits in its total portfolio of 42 companies, and has incurred zero losses.
