Daylight co-founder and chief growth officer Art Harrison told The Logic the goal of the purchase was mainly to acquire Proof’s team, at a time when competition for tech talent is more fierce than ever. Daylight didn’t disclose the terms of the deal. (The Logic)
Talking point: Proof’s co-founders, Ben Sanders and Wesley George, will become Daylight’s vice-president of business development and vice-president of solutions engineering Sanders also co-founded Clearco (formerly Clearbanc) in 2015. Toronto-based Daylight operates a SaaS platform that allows businesses to make manual forms and other workflow processes more user-friendly; Yukon-based Proof, which operates a service for automating government workflows, was previously a Daylight customer, Harrison said. In September, Daylight raised US$12.3 million in a Series A round co-led by Bessemer Venture Partners, which Harrison said would help Daylight expand its operations into the U.S. Some of its existing customers include BMO Financial Group and Shoppers Drug Mart.
